Chance to design-a-dessert for charity
We're giving Somerset schoolchildren the opportunity to become mini master chefs this and next month (May and June, 2016) with our charity design-a-dessert competition.
The foodie contest has been created by us to help raise money for Dogs 4 Adoption at Wrantage and the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) at Heaven's Gate Farm near Langport.
We've contacted the area's primary and junior schools to invite pupils to submit their ideas, suggestions, drawings and photographs for a new dessert, which we can then create.
The winning pudding will be made by our chefs at the restaurant and sold to help raise money for Dogs 4 Adoption and NAWT.
Children are invited to take part in the competition via their schools or individually. All desserts must be traditional, British pudding-based dishes and include seasonal ingredients with an emphasis on fruit.
The dish will be sold during our Tuesday and Wednesday lunch services in August, 2016, during the school summer holidays, and proceeds from sales will be donated to the charities.
Further details are given with the entry forms and rules below. The closing date for entries is 5pm on June 30, 2016.
We're keen to collect as much money as possible for Dogs 4 Adoption and the NAWT this year as we have very close ties with both charities and applaud the work they do.
Our two dogs, Ruby and Ben, were adopted from these charities too and we are also now home to three cats from the Cat Protection League.
