The perfect alternative to motorway services

As we're just off the M5 at junction 23, Bridgwater, we're becoming a bit of a stop off for holidaymakers motoring on to Devon or Cornwall.

We're offering an alternative resting place to the average motorway service station for travellers.

We all know that driving on long journeys is stressful and it's important to take regular breaks to recharge your batteries. We're finding that we're getting more visitors choosing to break their journey here with us and we're becoming something of a modern day coaching inn, somewhere serving excellent home-made food at lunchtimes and evenings, every day, except Monday lunchtimes, in a relaxed atmosphere that is dog and child-friendly.

We're finding this year that guests are actively planning to break their journeys with us because they say they like the fact they can stop in attractive surroundings not far from the motorway but with decent food, service and loos. We have an outdoor area where people can stretch their legs and free Wi-Fi for those who need to stay in touch for business or pleasure. We're a far better option than fighting through overcrowded walkways and queuing in fast-food outlets.

We offer a wide choice of homemade food with an emphasis on quality, freshness and seasonality where applicable. Child-friendly meals are also offered and served with a friendly service.

Our part of Somerset, which includes The Quantocks and The Levels are often bypassed by many visitors heading for destinations further along the M5. But as we get lots of guests using us as a lunch stop off point, they're getting to see some of the area first hand and we've had lunch stop-off guests come back and book breaks here too.

As Buddha said: "It is better to travel well than to arrive", so we love it when people break their journey with us but we also think it's great when they come back to spend more time appreciating the area in full.

Fresh air is the perfect remedy after a tiring car journey and, also, an essential part of any mid-drive break. Here guests can wander in our garden and revive the senses. They can even stop and smell the roses!

Our areas all have wide access for buggies and wheelchairs and we have a loo for the less able on-site. Dogs are welcome and well-behaved pets may join their owners in the outdoor seated eating areas. Water bowls are provided too.
